Testing Site Update (8 a.m. 1/14/22): The COVID -19 testing site for RRPS students and staff has a limited supply of Lab PCR tests (takes 1 to 3 days for processing) and a limited supply of rapid antigen tests available. The PCR tests are used for symptomatic testing, while the rapid antigen tests are used for the Test to Stay program, close contacts and surveillance testing. We hope to have more testing kits delivered soon.

As a reminder, the Lab PCR tests have a 1 to 3 day turnaround time for results. Due to the high demand, they are running on the longer side of that time estimate. Please be patient and check your PMG account in the status section for any results. They will post them there once ready and will also text or email you. We appreciate your patience. Also, if the status section does not show a test, it does not mean they lost your sample, it simply means the results are not yet ready.

The PCR tests are used for symptomatic testing. We are completely out of rapid antigen tests at this time. We hope to have more testing kits delivered soon.

Testing Site Update 1-12-22: The testing site for RRPS students and staff is currently out of rapid PCR tests and Lab PCR tests for COVID-19. The PCR test is needed if you are symptomatic and need a negative test to return to your school site. Therefore, we are not able to perform testing for those needing a PCR test. We hope to have a shipment of tests soon, but do not have an exact ETA.
The site does still have a limited supply of rapid antigen tests (with results ready the same day) for close contact, test-to-stay and surveillance testing. All positive results need to be reported.

RRPS COVID-19 Testing Site Update: Due to the additional transportation time needed to get the LAB PCR tests processed, the testing site will only test symptomatic students and staff between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice. Those who wish to be tested due to a close contact exposure, for surveillance or for the Test to Stay program may access Rapid Antigen testing between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

CLASSES RESUME TUES, SEPT 28: While we made a note in our message to RRPS families yesterday that we would be ready to welcome students back on Tuesday, we wanted to confirm with you that the fiber optic circuit has been repaired and our internet and software/systems necessary to run a safe school district are fully functional. All schools will operate per their normal schedules for tomorrow and we look forward to seeing our students back in classrooms.

SCHOOL CLOSED SEPT. 27: Rio Rancho Public Schools is canceling school for all schools (including SpaRRk Academy and Rio Rancho Cyber Academy) tomorrow, Monday, September 27. The SAFE Program will also be canceled. Athletics activities will continue as planned.
Sunday Evening, Rio Rancho Public Schools administration was notified that due to a damaged fiber optic circuit near Rainbow Boulevard, we will not have access to the internet district-wide for tomorrow, Sept. 27. While we could continue to hold classes, meals, etc., this outage impacts some of our core systems within the RRPS network, many of which impact the safety of our schools and student transportation. Therefore, we feel that the safest option at this time is to cancel school.
